The Grand Scoop 2008
August 9th, 2008 - FREE!

Grand Scoop, July 1, 1-5 pm

Celebrate the Grand Opera House’s 125th anniversary in downtown Oshkosh at the Grand Scoop on Saturday, August 9 from noon to 4 p.m. in Opera House Square.

The annual Grand Scoop celebration features FREE food, refreshments, games and entertainment for the entire family. It’s also the first opportunity to purchase individual tickets for the upcoming 2008-09 Season. Tickets go on sale at noon for all twelve performers in the new season.

The Grand Scoop is a free, family-orientated event sponsored by the Oshkosh Northwestern Newspaper, with additional support from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation and the Water City Grill.

Activities will be held in both the historic Opera House and the adjacent Opera House Square park. Entertainment includes the Oshkosh Brass Quintet, Water City Jazz Quartet, Dr. Kickbutt and his Orchestra, performances by members of the Oshkosh Academy for the Performing Arts, and magic by Oshkosh’s own Mike Schroeder. Enjoy a self-guided tour of the historic Opera House facility as well as a look at the progress on the new second floor Grand Lounge, scheduled to open later this season.

There will be free children’s games, a bounce house, free food, refreshments and enjoy a free Scoop of Ice Cream, all in celebration of the historic Grand Opera House’s 125th anniversary.

Designed by Oshkosh architect William Waters the Grand Opera House first opened its doors on August 9, 1883. Exactly 125 years later we’re commemorating this milestone and
celebrating the fact Oshkosh is home to Wisconsin’s Oldest Operating Theater Building! We hope you’ll join us for a day of fun in the sun in downtown Oshkosh.
