If you’ve ever thought The Grand Opera House could use more bathrooms, more lobby space, and better patron services such as food and a full-service bar then you’ll love what we have planned for the second floor lounge area.
It’s been more than two decades since the community helped save and restore The Grand back to its original Victorian-era splendor. Today, Wisconsin’s oldest operating theater building is poised to celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2008 with some new amenities. Our goal is to raise $300,000 to completely remodel the second floor lounge area (formerly home to The Grand administrative offices, and on occasion, our overflow concessions and lobby space) and add some much asked about amenities. Once complete the new lounge will provide a place where patrons better experience performances at The Grand. You’ll be able to come early and stay late to enjoy drinks and food surrounding performances. During intermission you won’t have to wait as the new lounge more than doubles the existing number of bathrooms in the facility. Even getting to your seat will be a little easier as plans call for a new entrance direct from the lounge to the second floor balcony area. It will be an area designed to host business meetings, wedding receptions, and even provide a little extra entertainment. In addition, The Grand will be fitted with closed circuit video and audio systems, helping to bring the entertainment on stage into the new lounge area and other parts of the complex. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation and the board of directors of the Oshkosh Opera House Foundation we’re nearly three-fourths of the way to a better Grand Opera House.
There’s still time to be part of this exciting project! For more information on this project, click here or contact The Grand at (920) 424-2355 today!
